Vertigo

Vertigo - 20 x 16 Egg Tempera

Our mind is balanced on the edge of the precipice. We are drawn by Vertigo into the naked abyss. If you love me turn away and exist.

ANXIETY

ANXIETY - 20 x 16 - egg tempera on panel

Panic stricken, crying fear. Anxiety is ever near. Heart beat racing, black despair. Take a valium and be happy dear.

PHOBIA

PHOBIA - 20 x 16 - egg tempera on panel

A darkened pond, a freudian fen. The peace that comes when a heart subsides. The ultimate Phobia in all of us resides.

SERENITY - Egg Tempera 20 x 16

A Study of Water and Light, Egg Tempera, 20 x 16 is the first in what I hope will be a large series paintings exploring the interaction of light and water. In this painting I show the subtle refraction of light through a shallow pool of water. The surface of the water is defined by the leaves which give tension to the water's surface.

Please note that Giclee copies of all the egg tempera paintings at Butler Studios are available for purchase. Just contact tassie_jim@hotmail.com for prices.

Hidden Pleasure Egg Tempera 20 X 16

Hidden Pleasure, Egg Tempera on Panel, 20 x 16

is a continuation of my series of water paintings. In this painting I try to show the vast, open Kansas prairie and sky juxtaposed with the enormous variety of botanical detail surrounding a small gully with water.

She and I found a grassy treasure. We indulged a Hidden Pleasure. Ecstasy beyond measure.
